Shungite for Water Filtration
There are many forms of water filtration out there. Stones are also being used to clean water because of their special properties. This article details the special properties of a stone called Shungite. It is called Shungite, because it is mainly mined in Shunga, a region in Karelia Russia.
Shungite Properties:
It contains fullerenes, or 3-D spherical molecules made of 60 carbon atoms. These molecules are hollow and sometimes called buckyballs. Along with fullerenes, shungite consists of nearly all the minerals on the periodic tab. Fullerenes are known for their ability to conduct electricity, attract and eliminate waterborne contaminants in addition to other unusual chemical properties.
Shungite can stay wet without breaking down or losing its properties. However, it should not be immersed in water for long. Water enters the crevices of the stones and expands their cracks. These fissures may not be visible at first but can slowly damage the structure of the stone, making the already-brittle shungite even more prone to damage. It is harder than coal, does not burn, is not affected by pressure, and exhibits extraordinary stability.
Grades of Shungite.
Elite or noble shungite Type I shungite contains more than 98 mass% of glass-like carbon. Regular black shungite type II contains 35–80 mass%
Type III 20–35 mass% (Type III shungite is the most widespread)
Type IV 10–20 mass%,
Type V contains <10 mass% of carbon.
Water Filtration Benefits
The porous carbon nature of this stone allows it to clean water and neutralize impurities via filtration. It is highly absorbent and holds up to 95% of polluting elements: There is virtually no pesticides, radon and harmful microorganisms in shungite water. The bubbling action of the shungite water indicates the input of oxygen. Calcium, magnesium and other mineral components are also transferred to the water via filtration. Shungite water also contains natural antioxidants which neutralizes free radicals. It normalizes cellular metabolism and increases enzyme activity. Fullerenes boost the regenerative ability of human tissue and influence the exchange of neurotransmitters, which can improve a person’s resistance to stress.
Shungite Water
Has approx. an acidic pH of 5.5, after the first filtration. This is seen when the stones are first washed and a black sediment results. The acidity can be extremely helpful and is widely used for therapeutic purposes. It is applied externally to cure acne, spots, cuts and other skin issues. Drinking acidic shungite water helps to treat chronic respiratory issues, headaches, aches in joints and muscles as well as the problems with the digestive system. The water becomes an alkaline pH between 7-7.5 on the pH scale the longer a high concentration of minerals are dissolved into the water. This happens after 6 to 8 hours of filtration.
3 EASY STEPS TO CLEAR AMD PRODUCE HEALTHY SHUNGITE WATER.
Wash 200 grams of regular black shungite stones (30% to 50% carbon) carefully, under running water to get rid of dust, on the surface of the stones. Place in one liter of tap or initially filtrated -infused water in dark place for at least 24 hours and then drink it fresh adding more water to the jar as you drink it.
Shungite water stones are environmentally friendly
They can be reused for water purification. Monthly cleaning and recharging are required. To clean and recharge: add one tablespoon of lemon acid or vinegar and put the stones in one litre of water for a couple of hours. Drain the water out. Then, clean shungite stones carefully under running water and place them in full sunshine for about three hours turning once. Recharge the stones with sunlight or during the full moon. You can do this for about a year or when you find the shungite water does not bring any benefits. Revert to the original instructions after cleaning and recharging. Shungite can be composted as well.
